In a move to extend it's range of services to customers, and to more closely integrate its specialist exhaust components production, STS Manufacturing has acquired major press shop facilities on its Lancaster site.

The 20,000 sq.ft facility includes seven presses, including several large tonnage presses (300 - 400 tonnes) which enable STS to produce metal parts and components for many uses, not just for the silencer materials business which is a major strength of the company.

STS has always worked closely with several press shops to source metal components, but the integration of the new facilities into its production workflow improve still further the synergy of manufacturing processes and improves the just-in-time delivery so important to its customers.

With bed sizes upto 2.74m x 1.52m the STS press shop is capable of producing parts and components for many industries, not just automotive. Additionally the press shop has full roll and weld facilities, as well as regualr TIG and MIG welding.

STS's 'soft' manufacturing facilities, specialising in high temperature and acoustic materials such as glassfibre and basalt wool, has been moved under the same roof as the press shop, and together with warehousing and offices the company now has a fully integrated 30,000sq.ft operation at its Lancaster site.
